What A Year For Heath Ledger

I guess you could say that Heath Ledger had the kind of year you'll not soon forget in 2008. Sadly, Heath wasn't around most of it to see what some of his work accomplished.

Now I'll be the first to say I didn't much care for the Batman movie. But he got a lot of attention for it. However, you don't hear much about the other actors who finished the movie playing the role of the Joker.

It is nice to hear that those actors donated their income from the Batman movie to his daughter. She should be set for life. She also received his estate. But you have to wonder if she'll even remember him by the time she's 18. Oh, she'll remember the money alright, that I'm sure of!

It would have been great if Heath could have overcome his drug and alcohol addiction. But like any drugs, you have to want help to break the addiction. I'm sure like most addicts, the thought he could handle the demons that come with such an addiction. Too bad his friends or family didn't step in and do an intervention.

Personally, my favorite movie of Heath Ledger was The Patriot with Mel Gibson. I thought he did an outstanding job and it was probably the one movie that really shot him to the top. No doubt, Heath was a talented actor and would have gone on to be a big name star like Mel and others.

It's also sad that he'll be remembered as just another actor who OD'd. He'll go down like John Belushi and Elvis Presley. You have to wonder if in a few years, anyone will even remember Heath Ledger. He certainly didn't have the star power that many of those long past actors had, he was a year or two away from that. I think that when people remember Heath, it will be for the Batman movie and the way he died. Sad.

The next thing you'll know, some low rating Cable TV station will be running Heath Ledger weekend's on their channel. But that would be difficult seeing how he didn't have all that many Movies. I imagine when Batman comes out on DVD, you'll see another resurgence in Heath Ledgers popularity and the Media will be talking about his life and death all over again. That's when I simply turn off the TV. I've heard it too many times and personally, I don't think it needs rehashed. Let Heath Ledger rest in Peace.
